Ingredients

  • 300g Epsom salt
  • 150g sea salt or Himalayan pink salt
  • 3 tbsp baking soda
  • A handful of dried herbs (choose from the herbs listed above)
  • 10-20 drops essential oils (optional, matching the herbs chosen)

  • A spoon for mixing
  • A clean, airtight glass jar or container for storage
  • Labels & pen

Method

  • Harvest and dry herbs: If you are using fresh herbs, harvest them from your garden. The best time to harvest is early in the morning, after the dew has evaporated but before the sun gets too hot. Gently wash the herbs to remove any dirt or insects and dry them thoroughly. Once dried, crumble the herbs into smaller pieces.
  • Prepare the base mix: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Epsom salt, sea salt (or Himalayan pink salt) and baking soda. Stir well to ensure the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Add herbs and essential oils: Add the dried herbs to the salt mixture, stirring thoroughly to ensure the herbs are evenly dispersed. If you are using essential oils, add them drop by drop, mixing well after each addition to evenly distribute the oils.
  • Store the bath salt: Once everything is thoroughly mixed, transfer the herbal bath salt to a clean, airtight glass jar or container. You could also use glass tubes with cork lids for gifting. Seal the container tightly to keep the bath salts fresh. Label it with the contents and date.

Usage and Storage

  • To use, add about 1/2 to 1 handful of herbal bath salt to warm bathwater and stir until dissolved. Soak in the bath for at least 20 minutes to fully enjoy the benefits.
  • Store the bath salts in a cool, dry place. They should last for up to six months when stored properly.
